Arsenal 2-2 Spurs – The Verdict
Manchester United hero Gary Neville pointed the finger at Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as well as his senior players after the Gunners twice blew a lead to draw 2-2 with Tottenham on Sunday. Son Heung-min levelled for Spurs at the end of the first half after Cristian Romero had turned the ball into his own net, with the South Korea international racing away to equalise again in the second half after Bukayo Saka had scored a penalty for the hosts a minute earlier.
“I want to see a composure from this Arsenal team and that’s difficult because the manager’s on the sideline jumping around like you wouldn’t believe,” the ex-right-back said on the Gary Neville podcast.
“I want to see passion, but I want to see composure and a coldness, and that feels like a contradiction. But I want to see it in the right moments at the right times. When they scored that second goal, Saka’s penalty – which was a beautiful penalty – celebrate it, give your fans something because they want to see it means something.
“But there should be two or three senior players in that group saying, ‘right, come on, switch on now – we’re ready and we’re going to see this through.’ Your mentality kicks in of knowing when a game’s in danger.”

Arsenal were dealt a huge blow at the interval after Declan Rice was forced off with a back problem. And Neville believes the midfielder’s replacement Jorginho was left exposed for Son’s second strike. “Rice had gone off at half-time and that presented a danger, so should Jorginho have been left there almost last man on the ball for Son’s second equaliser? Maybe, maybe not,” the former England star added.
“He should have done better himself, of course, but when you concede a goal a minute after one going in, that’s what I’m talking about, that mentality. They didn’t get set again.”

The result at the Emirates Stadium leaves Arsenal and Tottenham neck-and-neck in the Premier League table and four points adrift of leaders Manchester City. The two north London teams are unbeaten in the league this season after winning four matches and drawing their other two. And they will both be desperate to keep pace with the Citizens.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won all six of their Premier League matches and have 18 points on the board. Liverpool, meanwhile, are second with 16 points, with Brighton in third place after racking-up 15 points.
