Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish face being left out of the England squad for this summer’s European Championships because of the form of Jesse Lingard, according to reports.
Lingard has been superb since joining West Ham on loan from Manchester United in the January transfer window and his form earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for last month’s three World Cup qualifiers.
The 28-year-old, who was key to England’s run to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, played in all three matches and impressed Southgate, seriously boosting his chances of a place in his final 23-man squad this summer.

But, according to The Sun, Lingard’s late run into contention could come at a cost to both Sancho and Grealish.
It is claimed the Three Lions boss has been ‘so impressed’ by Lingard’s performances and his ‘huge popularity within the squad’ will be another positive to the group this summer.
Both Sancho and Grealish had looked nailed on picks for Southgate but they missed the most recent international meet up due to injury.
Sancho has missed the last four games with Borussia Dortmund with a muscle issue and it is claimed he will not play in either of their Champions League quarter-final legs against Manchester City this month.
Grealish, meanwhile, is due back in action for Aston Villa this weekend against Fulham after sitting out since the middle of February with a leg injury.
But both players have been in impressive form this season with Grealish posting seven goals and 12 assists in 23 appearances and Sancho providing 12 goals and 16 assists in Germany.
England boss Southgate has a huge number of attacking options to choose from this summer
Southgate recently revealed he has already told some players of their chances of making his final squad with two months to go until he must decide.
He said: ‘I’ve spoken to quite a few so that they know exactly where they sit.
‘You’ve got to manage expectations about what they might need to do between now and the end of the season.
‘And, of course, everybody is so close. It’s not something anybody sees outside the camp, but when you’ve got players training at the right level every day, encouraging each other through those sessions, socially getting on well.
‘It’s not all about that social part, but the part where you accept being on the bench, accept playing your part and not playing the number of minutes.
‘That is critical and was important to us getting nine points.’
England beat San Marino, Albania and Poland last month and are next in action against Austria on June 2.
