Harry Kane was prepared to wait another 12 months and join Manchester United on a free transfer before his summer move to Bayern Munich.

The England skipper has made the ideal start to life with the Bundesliga giants, scoring four goals in four games, but he started the summer, according to the Daily Mail, with his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag made Kane his No.1 target to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, but eventually turned his attention to the signing of Danish youngster Rasmus Hojlund when it became clear that doing a deal with Daniel Levy and Spurs would be less than straightforward.
Kane was still said to be willing to wait another year and join on a free transfer butthe signing of Hojlund effectively closed the door and opened up an opportunity for Bayern to pounce.
The 30-year-old will make his Champions League debut for Bayern tomorrow night against United at the Allianz Arena and insists he has no regrets over his £100million transfer.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Kane said: ‘Over the summer I know there were talks between a few clubs in the background, but Bayern was a team I was really interested and excited by.
‘There weren’t many other discussions when they came in and the deal got done.
‘My focus is on here, Manchester United are a great club and a big club too, but I decided to come here and I’m glad I did.’

On his desire to end his personal quest to win the silverware his astonishing individual records merit, Kane added: ‘The Champions League is a big goal of course but I’m not solely focusing on that. I want to win all three competitions we’re in.
‘We prepare for this like we would any other game. Of course, it’s the biggest competition in Europe and having the final at Wembley would be extra special but that’s too far ahead, I’m not getting carried away.
‘We just need to start positively tomorrow night.’
