Harry Maguire hits back at Man Utd’s jealous critics who hope they lose

Harry Maguire believes Manchester United 's critics are just jealous of their past success.

The United captain launched a staunch defence of the under-fire Reds after they bounced back with a win against Everton on Saturday.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was feeling the heat after back-to-back defeats by Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir.

But after their 3-1 win at Goodison, Maguire hit back claiming the questions are only coming from those who don't like the 20-time English champions.

He said: “Well at this club one thing I've noticed in my time here, we are the most talked about club in the world and why is that? Because we are the biggest club in the world.

“People don't want us to do well, why? It's probably because of the success we've had in the past.

“We've got to live up to that.

“We have to react to that and don't let the negativity get into our bubble inside the training ground.

“Sometimes it's difficult for the lads.”

United got back to winning ways thanks to two goals from Bruno Fernandes and a strike from Edinson Cavani.

It takes some of the heat off Solskjaer following the two defeats in a week.

Maguire added: “We reacted well to two poor results, we thought we were on the right track against Leipzig but we let ourselves down against Arsenal and on another day Arsenal could have been a different result.

“It wasn't good enough. We knew it was an important game to come here and get three points. It's only a start.”
