Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has been left “outraged” by Madri beer during his visit to Newcastle.
Spain’s World Cup-winning captain decided to take a trip to the north-east for the weekend. In one of football’s more bizarre crossovers, Casillas posted a snap of him visiting Newcastle’s city centre and posing next to Grey’s Monument, which he captioned: “Visit Newcastle.”
The 42-year-old also attended St. James’ Park for the Magpies’ 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday. He shared a photo of himself posing in the stands while looking delighted.

But Casillas, who won five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, appeared less impressed by Revolucion de Cuba – which featured an advert for Madri beer outside. The former goalkeeper posted a snap on his story of the advert, which read: “Taste the soul of Madrid” and captioned it “WTF??”
The Madrid-born and raised legend was clearly left baffled by a beer he had never heard of using his city as its premise. The beer is in fact produced in the United Kingdom by Coors, in conjunction with Spanish brewery La Sagra, and became one of the 10 best selling lagers in the UK by 2022.

Casillas’ surprising affiliation with the Toon comes after he revealed previously that Newcastle were his favourite English side. And the icon was once even linked with a move to Tyneside.
Yet he is not the only well-known football star to have a connection with the club, with Antoine Griezmann having confessed to enjoying a Newcastle Football Manager save. The French World Cup winner revealed he had won five trophies with the Magpies and even managed to sign compatriot Kylian Mbappe for them in-game.
