Italy national team captain Ciro Immobile made a surprise appearance on hit TV show 'Drag Race Italia'.
The Lazio striker was invited on the show alongside his wife Jessica Melena to be special guest judges for the category 'Red Passion Week' on its third season. Immobile, 33, is the latest sports star to make an appearance on the show and his presence was appreciated by one of the show's drag queens, Silvana della Magliana.
She said: "What a handsome man! Having someone like you here is very important for us" as the Serie A star made his way to the 'werk room' with Melena to meet the queens following their runway presentations. Melissa Bianchini also showed her gratitude to Immobile as she added: "The whole drag family thanks you, your support and your presence means a lot because our mission is to take the drag world further."

It was only a few weeks ago when Bianchini and her fellow queens were invited to the San Siro as they watched Inter Milan drew 2-2 with Bologna. Their invitation came at a time of struggle for LGBTQ rights in Italy due to the right-wing government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and her Brothers of Italy political party.
In the European country, the inclusion of same-sex couples on birth certificates were stopped by city councils earlier this year while no equal marriage legislation exists. The significance of the Italy captain appearing on the show and displaying his support transcends football and was much appreciated by the queens as he told them: " "We’re happy that you have chosen us to send out this message of freedom."

Competing queen La Prada responded to the footballer: "It’s a message that must also continue on the pitch and in the locker room." On the pitch, it's been an difficult start to the season for Lazio who sit eighth in the league, having won just five of their 11 league games.
One win in their opening five games was a horror start for the Italian outfit but they soon turned their fortunes around and have won four of their last six games as they look to chase the European spots ahead of them.
