According to shock claims in the New York Post, John W Henry has put Liverpool FC up for sale.
The Post claims that “Liverpool FC is quietly on the market” and the 69-year-old is looking for a price “north of £1.53billion”.
Henry originally bought Liverpool for £365 million in 2010, and a reported valuation of £2billion would see the Illinois-born businessman make a huge profit on the Merseyside club.
The Reds are not openly for sale, but the Post claims that Henry has been privately entertaining offers, and if the price were right, a deal could be struck.

Henry also owns the Boston Red Sox, who suffered financial losses this season despite winning the World Series.
It’s unclear whether the Red Sox’s financial woes are linked with Henry’s desire to sell Liverpool.
Henry’s representatives didn’t respond to the New York Post’s calls for comment.
