Juventus complete two-year loan signing of former Manchester United target Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina with £36m option to buy Italian winger

Juventus have completed a two-year loan signing of former Manchester United target Federico Chiesa. 

The 22-year-old Italy international has joined the Bianconeri from Fiorentina – who he has represented since the age of nine – until June 30, 2022. 

Having scored 34 goals in 153 outings for the Viola, Juve have agreed to an initial two-year temporary contract that includes an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.

Juve will pay a total of £9million over the two seasons of the loan with £1.8m for the 2020-21 campaign and £7.2m for the following season.  

The Bianconeri will also have the option to make the deal permanent for £36m, which will be payable over three years. 

The stated fee could, however,  be raised by £10m if Chiesa hits certain performance objectives. 

In addition, should Chiesa play a minimum of 60per cent of Juve’s games for at least 30 minutes or contribute a minimum of 10 goals and 10 assists, the club will be obliged to sign him permanently.

Chiesa – the son of former Italy striker Enrico – is rated as one of Italy’s best young prospects and became a regular for Fiorentina last season. 

He scored 11 goals and registered nine assists in 37 appearances for Giuseppe Iachini’s side.

Chiesa even went on to follow in his fathers footsteps by earning his international call up in 2018 and going on to earn a total of nine caps so far.
