Klopp’s admission about Jadon Sancho will fill Solskjaer with dread

Manchester United opted against signing Jadon Sancho this summer window – a decision would could have big repercussions further down the line.

The Red Devils had been favourites to land the England international, and were perhaps themselves a little too confident a deal would take place.

United hoped that by sitting still Dortmund would blink first and come down on their huge £108million valuation for their prized asset.

But BVB proved they were no pushovers and after United missed the club's August 10 deadline to make an acceptable bid, Dortmund closed its doors.

Manchester United are this Tuesday ruing what could have been… and things could be about to get a whole lot worse.

The Red Devils were favourites to sign Sancho this summer because they had the money to get the transfer over the line.

Liverpool have always been very interested in the England forward, but this summer were under pressure to sell before they could buy.

The coronavirus pandemic hit the club hard, and they had no way of raising anywhere close to the £108m Dortmund were demanding.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked about Sancho, and admitted: "I don't think such a transfer will be possible this season."

As a side-note he added: "The red shirt [of Liverpool] would suit [him] very well."

As aforesaid, this season was always off the cards. But next season both United and Liverpool will be on a level playing field when it comes to enticing Sancho back to England.

And what's more, reports are now claiming that Liverpool have edged in front of United in the race for the former Man City graduate.

According to The Independent, Sancho's failed move to United has prompted the forward to reassess his options, and he is now strongly considering both Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Should Liverpool beat United to Sancho's signature next summer it would shine an even harsher light on the Red Devils' current transfer model.
