Lampard says chat with butt naked Mourinho inspired his Chelsea manager dream

Frank Lampard has revealed how a chat with Jose Mourinho made him realise he wanted to become Chelsea's manager – while both were in the nude.

The Blues have a history of hiring and firing managers with Roman Abramovich in charge.

There have been 10 first-team coaches placed by him in the hotseat at Stamford Bridge and no survivors.

Some include Luis Felipe Scolari, Avram Grant, Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri and, of course, Mourinho.

The latest is club legend Lampard, who arrived with just one year of managerial experience under his belt – a season with Derby County in the Championship.

But the signs look encouraging, with the ex-midfielder leading the Blues to fourth in the Premier League.

However, the 42-year-old is still a relative novice when it comes to top-level coaching.

And Lampard has admitted it has been his dream to become a manager, but it took a chat with Mourinho in the full Monty to realise.

Chelsea’s boss said: “I think it was great man management.

"It definitely gave me the lift I needed at the time.

“I keep getting asked about it – is the fact that the image of him naked and me naked, like showering ourselves whilst having quite an important conversation.

“But that was a beautiful thing as well.

"That’s what kind of let – made me learn or think about in management that not every conversation has to be, come into my office and sit down.

“He knew I wasn’t the best player in the world; probably didn’t think I was.

"And another manager later on in my career did the absolute reverse of that conversation, and it hit me really hard as well.
