Laura Woods reveals what she found in Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour’s golf buggy

Laura Woods revealed the hilarious story about the first time she met Arsenal Invincible Ray Parlour.

Woods has met nearly everyone there is to meet in the world of sport through her various roles presenting events and tournaments, most notably hanging around with former and current footballers.

Despite her impartial role as a presenter alongside footballing royalty pundits, Woods is an Arsenal fan and told Rio Ferdinand on TNT Sports that meeting members of Arsene Wenger’s great Gunners’ side still has her pinching herself.

After meeting the likes of Thierry Henry, Emmanuel Petit and Martin Keown, Woods told the former Manchester United defender that the ‘Romford Pele’ was one of the last of the Arsenal Invincible sides she hadn’t met before, saying she felt ‘overawed’ by meeting footballers like him. However, it was in a different setting to where you would normally find Woods spending time with sports stars.

She revealed they met while she was presenting the Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Classic in Portugal, where Parlour was possibly more interested in spending time in the sun than honing his club skills.

Woods said: “He (Parlour) was the one. And when I met him it was on a beach in Portugal. I was presenting the Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Classic.”

Ferdinand asked: “Did he have a drink in hand?” To which Woods replied smiling: “Of course he did. The whole time. Alan Brazil was on this cart, and if you went to the golf buggies they were filled with empty cans of beer.

“And they were so hot and red and I was like, ‘Do you guys need any sun tan lotion?’, and they were like, ‘No, that’s cheating!’ But that was the first time I met him and it was amazing.”
