Tomas Soucek’s second-half goal ensured West Ham overcame a tough test in the Carabao Cup third round at Lincoln with a 1-0 victory.
This was nothing other than ‘job done’ for the Hammers as Soucek’s 70th-minute strike from a corner booked their place in the next round.
Boss David Moyes made a host of changes to his side but Soucek was one of his Premier League starters who was involved and that proved vital while goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski also made a number of good saves.
Lincoln went for it in the final 15 minutes in a bid to force penalties and Dylan Duffy tested Fabianksi with a stinging shot from distance, which the keeper met with a full-length save.
West Ham were able to see it out to make it through to the fourth round for the fourth successive year.

Fulham 2-1 Norwich
Marco Silva’s side had too much on the night for the Championship visitors as goals from Carlos Vinicius and Alex Iwobi were enough to take them forward in the competition.
Fulham dominated for large parts of the game as the hosts enjoyed 70 per cent possession and were perhaps left frustrated after a lack of accuracy resulted in only three out of 17 shots going on-target.
Norwich substitute Borja Sainz threatened a comeback for the visitors but it was too little too late as David Wagner’s side crashed out the League Cup.

Chelsea 1-0 Bournemouth
The pressure was seriously mounting on Mauricio Pochettino and still is, but Wednesday’s hard-fought cup win was a rare reason to celebrate.
Nicolas Jackson’s 50th-minute strike was met with relief inside Stamford Bridge as a much-changed Brighton side struggled to ever really get going.
Cole Palmer provided the assist for Jackson’s goal while Mykhailo Mudryk also benefitted from being handed a rare start as Pochettino rotated his squad.
