Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Thiago after reportedly agreeing a fee worth a total of £25million for the Champions League winner. The club have flirted with the deal since the beginning of the summer but now they have finally made their move to bring the 29-year-old to Anfield.
While the transfer is not done yet, personal terms are not expected to be a problem given that Thiago has been clear he wants to move to Liverpool.
The move sparked into life earlier this week when Bayern declared they wanted to sell Thiago by the start of the Bundesliga campaign this weekend.
Liverpool made contact and have now thrashed out a deal for the maestro, who will take Klopp’s midfield to the next level.
While Thiago awaits the green light to fly to England for a medical, the perfect shirt number is already waiting for him at Anfield.

For Bayern Munich he wore the No 6 shirt and that is currently free on Merseyside following the departure of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg.
There have been several amendments to squad numbers at the club this summer but Liverpool have always kept the No 6 shirt free.
According to Melissa Reddy of The Independent, that is the number he will wear as he prepares to embark on a new adventure in the Premier League.
If circumstances change, the remaining squad number options for Thiago are incredibly limited unless there are departures.

Nathaniel Clyne’s No 2 shirt is up for grabs although that would be unconventional for a midfielder.
The No 19 shirt has been available since it was vacated by Sadio Mane ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Adam Lallana’s 20 shirt is also vacant following his move to Brighton and Hove Albion on a free transfer.
The No 25 is also an option along with 28, 29, 30 and 31.
The future of several stars remains in the balance with three week remaining of the transfer window.
Those include Xherdan Shaqiri, who wears the No 23 and Divock Origi, who dons the 27.
Rhian Brewster could also leave the club on loan or a permanent deal and he wears the No 24.
Marko Grujic’s agent recently claimed Liverpool want to keep him until at least January but his No 16 is also a realistic possibility given his lack of first-team opportunities.
