Liverpool and Man Utd tipped to miss out on Kylian Mbappe transfer due to star’s ‘dream’

Liverpool and Manchester United will likely miss out on signing Kylian Mbappe next summer despite the Frenchman reportedly telling Paris Saint-Germain that he wants to leave the club at the end of the season. That’s the opinion of French football expert Julien Laurens, who predicted the World Cup winner will likely want to sign for Real Madrid in a year’s time.

Mbappe has apparently told PSG he wants a move next summer after four years in the French capital.

The wonderkid became the most expensive teenager of all time when he signed for the mega-rich Parisiens for £166million back in 2017, and has gone on to win three straight Ligue 1 titles.

Mbappe has emerged as undoubtedly the best young player in the world, but apparently has decided he wants a change next summer.

The forward is under contract until 2022, meaning PSG don’t have to sell him any time soon, but could run the risk of having to sell him on the cheap if they don’t secure an extension to his deal.

Liverpool and United are both believed to be interested, and the forward has spoken in the past about his admiration for the Premier League champions.

It has been claimed that he would be open to a move to Old Trafford, however, putting Red Devils chiefs on red alert.

However, Laurens believes Madrid is his most likely destination, as he explained on ESPN FC that he has always wanted to play for Los Blancos.

The pundit claimed Mbappe might even be interested in signing for a team in Italy, and suggested Juventus as a potential suitor.

“At some point he will want to leave, for sure,” Laurens said.

“Let’s remember, his contract ends in 2022, so that’s quite soon. PSG are hoping he’ll extend that deal but he hasn’t yet.

“I think then if he goes to Real Madrid, it would be his ultimate dream.

“That’s where he’s always wanted to play, that’s where he went as an 11-year-old because they invited him to train with their youth team. He was that good that they wanted to sign him then.

“There’s no doubt at some point he’ll want to go to the Bernabeu and play there. However, there will be other clubs he’ll be keen on.

“Liverpool is a club and a project right now that he’s in awe of, and he’s said that before. That could be something that is very interesting to him.

“I’m sure there will be other clubs in England and Italy, maybe Juventus for example, that would appeal to him.

“But, really, Real Madrid are the ones that he’s dreamed to play for one day, so they’d be the ideal destination for him.”
