Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailed the ‘insane work-rate’ of Darwin Nunez after Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Brentford.

The striker, who had two goals ruled out before setting up Mohamed Salah’s opener, produced an impressive display at Anfield

Nunez has come under fire in recent weeks and was labelled wasteful after missing a sitter during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at struggling Luton last weekend.

But the Uruguay international proved to be a constant menace against Brentford.

He found the back of the net twice in the first half, but the strikes, which included a sensational overhead kick, were both ruled out for offside.

Nunez released Salah to open the scoring in the 39th minute.

Salah doubled their lead in the 62nd minute and Diogo Jota rounded off another dominant home display with a thumping strike in the 74th minute.

But it was Nunez who was singled out for praise by Klopp.

He said: “Outstanding! Outstanding! Everyone can see!

‘Look at him how he kept the ball for us, who would of though that last year? That he could do that for us!”

‘Standout was Darwin because Brentford wanted long balls so he started the pressing.

”Work-rate was insane.’
