Liverpool team news: Expected 4-3-3 vs Leicester as Jurgen Klopp makes drastic changes

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has a number of decisions to make against Leicester with injuries continuing to ravage Anfield. Express Sport takes a look at the team Jurgen Klopp is expected to name against Leicester.

Goalkeeper: Alisson

For all of Liverpool’s injury issues at the back, having Alisson in goal provides some stability for Klopp.

The Brazilian has already missed a handful of games this season through injury, including the 7-2 drubbing at the hands of Aston Villa.

His only clean sheet this season came against Chelsea back in September, but he still brings some assurance to Liverpool’s makeshift defence.

Defenders: Milner, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson

Brendan Rodgers will be trying to second guess who Liverpool play in defence almost as much as Klopp.

Fabinho did return to full team training on Friday but there remains a question mark over his match sharpness.

Liverpool have the small matter of trying to stop Jamie Vardy, who’s once again been in brilliant form this season.

Klopp will likely opt for the experience of James Milner to fill in at right-back over Neco Williams.

Midfielders: Wijnaldum, Keita, Jones

Jordan Henderson’s injury on England duty has left Klopp also short of options in midfield.

Thiago Alcantara isn’t expected to return in time to face Leicester, but Naby Keita is now fit after featuring for Guinea recently.

Curtis Jones has performed well in recent weeks since breaking into the first team on a regular basis.

And Georginio Wijnaldum provides some stability to Liverpool’s midfield.

Forward: Jota, Firmino, Mane

Mohamed Salah’s positive coronavirus test in years gone by would have previously spelled disaster for Liverpool.

The Reds are still likely to miss the goal threat of their talisman, but Diogo Jota’s impressive start to life at Anfield means it should be a simple switch.

Roberto Firmino is facing increasing pressure to score having struggled in front of goal this season.

But Sadio Mane remains Liverpool’s biggest threat going forward and he may relish the chance to face Leicester.
