Liverpool were told five months ago Haaland ‘would land at Anfield’

Liverpool have been told that Erling Haaland would land at Anfield – five months ago.

The Norway international is being eyed by the biggest teams in Europe after a stunning season with Borussia Dortmund.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona are desperate to snap up the 20-year-old.

Dortmund are reluctant to lose the youngster and have slapped a £127m price-tag on him to ward suitors off.

Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, and his father, Alf-Inge, have been in Spain this week talking to Madrid and Barca.

But their tour does not stop there with England the next destination.

The two want to speak to everyone before a decision is made on where Haaland will go next – much to Dortmund's bemusement.

Not too long ago, Haaland was scoring against Liverpool while fronting RB Salzburg's attack in the Champions League.

In January 2020, he made the move to Dortmund over United while in November Salzburg chief Christoph Freund insisted the striker will end up at Liverpool.

In a conversation with Germany legend Lothar Matthaus, who suggested Anfield as a destination, Freund replied: "That's where he will land.

"He can play for any club in the world. With his mentality, his will, with his self-confidence he can make a mark on European football in the next ten years."

Matthaus added: "Dortmund is one of the top 10 teams in Europe, but there are five or six better teams and that is where he will play at some point.

"I'm thinking of the top clubs; not necessarily Bayern Munich, because Robert Lewandowski will be playing for the next two or three years and Haaland will probably not stay in Dortmund that long."
