Lyon have experienced that winning feeling for the first time this season, as they travelled to Stade Rennais on Sunday afternoon.
The French giants had been propping up the league after a nightmare start to the campaign had left them winless in ten. Irishman Jake O'Brien rose highest to nod in the only goal that separated the two sides, with Rennais down to ten men after an early red card.
"We managed to play a great game, we left our hearts on the pitch and everything we had in our bellies," said Lyon coach Fabio Grosso. Although, the Italian added that he was "not happy today", but would only be "happy in the end when I, hopefully, get the club out of this situation".

It has been over five months since Lyon's last victory in the league, and the relief was clear on their faces as Alexandre Lacazette danced infront of the fans.

Lyon had to win too, Clermont Foot, who have already beaten the seven-time French champions earlier this season, also picked up points as they beat FC Lorient 1-0. It seems a long time ago Lyon were knocking Manchester City out of the Champions League in front of an empty stadium.
However, Grosso has accepted this is Lyon's new reality, and he added he won't walk away from the club until they are out of the relegation zone.
