Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been warned he may need to make more than four signings this summer to ward off the extra pressure he will face next season. Solskjaer led United to a second-placed finish in the Premier League last term but is still yet to win a trophy as the club’s manager. The Red Devils lost in the final of the Europa League in May.
United’s last piece of silverware came over four years ago when Jose Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have seen Manchester City, Liverpool and most recently Chelsea win major honours in recent years while they remain without a Premier League title since 2013.
United legend Mark Hughes believes the loss to Villarreal in Gdansk last month puts more pressure onto the shoulders of Solskjaer.
And Hughes reckons there needs to be at least five new signings brought in this summer to help bridge the gap to their rivals.

“There’s certainly progress been made,” Hughes told talkSPORT.
“Ideally, not only for United but for Ole as well and for his longevity in the role, it was important that they won the trophy.
“They weren’t able to manage that so I think that brings a little bit more pressure for Ole next year, I think he’ll accept that and understand that.
“Then you’re Man United manager you’re expected to bring trophies to the sideboard and that hasn’t happened as yet.

“But he’s got a lot of support within the ranks of Old Trafford and people want him to do well, they’re keen for him to do well.
“So that gives him a little bit more time and space and do the job he sees fit.
“But I think he’s right in terms of needing new players. Whether or not three or four is enough… it could be that they actually need more than that.
“But we’ll see how the transfer market is and who’s available, and who they prioritise as the ones they want.
“It will be an interesting summer for everybody at Old Trafford.”
United are linked with a host of big-name targets this summer.
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane appears to be the prime candidate Solskjaer is looking for in that position.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is once again linked with a move to United.
Dortmund have lowered their asking price from £108million to £77m for the England international.
