Manchester United chiefs would be right to make a “big decision” on the future of Erik ten Hag if results do not pick up. That is the view of Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, who has warned it could be a slippery slope for the Red Devils boss if he has lost the dressing room.
United have lost six of their 10 matches in all competitions so far this season. The latest defeat was a surprise result at home to Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Ten Hag won the Carabao Cup in his first season in charge, ending United’s six-year wait for a trophy, as well as earning a spot back in Europe’s elite club competition. However, United are currently floundering in 10th place ahead of Saturday’s visit of Brentford.
The Bees will be confident, with three of United’s losses this term coming at Old Trafford. Parlour believes the players must look themselves in the mirror and consider whether they could be doing more.

He told talkSPORT: “Well you’ve got to look at players as well, are they performing? You can’t always look at managers.
“You’ve got to wear that Manchester United shirt with pride and go out there and give it your all every single game. There’s too many times this season I see people walking back, not being in the right position at the right time. Whether that’s down to the manager… “
However, Parlour believes if Ten Hag doesn’t have the players on side, it won’t be long before the club’s hierarchy is forced into making a decision on his future. The pundit also wonders whether the freezing out of Jadon Sancho has had any impact on the mindset of his squad.

Parlour added: “The problem I always had with managers is if you lose a dressing room. With the Sancho situation, I don’t know what the backlash has been in the dressing room because players talk behind the manager’s back.
“If it’s been said ‘oh it’s out of order the way they’ve treated Sancho’ or whatever, that’s a problem you have. If he’s lost the dressing room.
“If he hasn’t then the players have got to look at themselves. There’s only one person that’s going to be sacked, it isn’t the player, it’s the manager. If they don’t get results soon, they’ve got to make a big decision.”
