Manchester United are reportedly considering handing David de Gea a huge pay-off in order to seal an Old Trafford exit. The Spaniard is facing a fight to retain the No 1 shirt under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Dean Henderson’s recent emergence.
The England international has deputised for De Gea in recent weeks, with the Spain international attending to the birth of his child.
Henderson has impressed, meaning the former Atletico Madrid keeper could be surplus to requirements at the end of the season.
Solskjaer faces a huge decision on Sunday, as he decides which of his two keepers will be handed the start when they host Brighton.
The United boss admitted it will be a very difficult decision, revealing that the two are likely to share minutes between now and the end of the season.

“I have the great option of two top goalkeepers and it’s a pleasure to have them here,” said Solskjaer.
“The two keepers will probably be needed in these last nine-plus games and they know we value them both really highly.
“It’s difficult to leave one of them out. It’s easy to give the nod to one and say they’ll play, but it’s a difficult decision to leave one out.
“We’ve got nine-plus games to go, so I’m sure you’ll see both of them playing in goal for us.
“I’ve got great options in both of them, but that will be decided on merit and we have to think who’s going to give us a win on any given day.”

However, according to the Mirror, Man United owners are keen to see the wage bill slashed this summer, with keepers alone being paid a staggering £570,000-per-week.
De Gea, 30, is currently on around £350,000-per-week and will still have two years remaining on that deal come the end of the season.
Henderson meanwhile, signed a new £100,000-a-week contract last summer, while Sergio Romero, who is set to leave the club this summer, is on £70,000-per-week
Third-choice Lee Grant and Joel Pereira are on £30,000-a-week and £20,000-a-week respectively and will also become free agents at the end of the season.
The report adds that United value the Spaniard at around £50million, but understand that fee could be prohibitive in the current market.
De Gea would also be expected to take a massive drop in wages, which could see Old Trafford bosses forced into a hefty pay-out.
It’s a similar scenario to the one which saw Alexis Sanchez picked up around £10million, when he moved to Inter Milan last year.
United were paying the Chilean a reported £500,000-per-week, but agreed to mutually terminate his deal, with Sanchez firmly out of Solskjaer’s plans.
