Manchester United are still keen on landing Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this month, but club chiefs are convinced that he would prefer to join Paris Saint-Germain or seal a move to Spain, according to reports. The Red Devils have long been credited with an interest in the talented 18-year-old, who is widely considered to be one of Europe’s finest young players.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be considering the late addition of a new deep-lying midfielder ahead of this month’s transfer deadline.
The Norwegian boss has already welcomed Jadon Sancho, Tom Heaton and Raphael Varane through the door at Old Trafford this summer.
However, it seems as though a final dip into the market could soon be on the cards, with just a matter of days remaining until the window slams shut.
The likes of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Leon Goretzka of Bayern Munich have been linked with United in recent weeks as the clock ticks down.
Meanwhile, Camavinga is believed to be a long-term target, but the likelihood of a summer move for the Frenchman appears to be dwindling.

United retain a keen desire to bring him to the club but are not entirely confident that he would be open to a Premier League switch, according to ESPN.
The report claims that the Red Devils hierarchy believe Camavinga would rather stay in France and join PSG, who have also been tipped to launch a bid for the teenager.
A move to La Liga could also be an option, with Real Madrid and Barcelona understood to be keeping tabs on Camavinga’s progress.
His current deal at Rennes is set to expire at the end of the season and the player has shown no interest in signing fresh terms.
The Ligue 1 outfit are reportedly looking to sell for a cut-price fee over the coming days to avoid losing their prized asset for nothing in a year’s time.
It has been suggested that a bid in the region of £30million would suffice, but it remains to be seen whether United will be prepared to splash out on Camavinga after spending £112m on the signings of Sancho and Varane.
The playmaker’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, recently claimed that plenty of enticing offers have already been tabled for his client but stressed that he is not looking to make any rash decisions.
“Believe me we have a lot of offers for this year, a lot of offers, and good ones,” Barnett told SNTV earlier this summer.

“I mean top, top clubs. We don’t want to rush. There is the right time to move on and playing games is the most important thing at his age.
“Playing in a good club is nice for him. It might be this year, or he wants to have another year. He has got to talk to his family, his father.
“We will all sit down and decide. We will talk to Rennes as well and decide. There is no rush for him.
“He’s probably the best young player in the world. He has just turned 18. He has already been a French international. He’s an unbelievable talent.
“He could play in any team in the world. He is still going to be a great talent at 19. It’s not that old you know, 19.”
