Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reviews the Chelsea game
Manchester United hero Paul Scholes has admitted he feels sorry for Jadon Sancho with the forward shining in Thursday night’s 4-1 Premier League win over Chelsea. The England international has blown hot and cold since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. But he now appears to have turned a corner at Old Trafford as the end of the season creeps closer.
Sancho was among the standout performers for United as they breezed past Chelsea to book their place in next season’s Champions League.
And Scholes has now hailed the 23-year-old while insisting he feels sorry for the England international that the campaign is nearly over.
“You’ve got to play players and sometimes you just get a bit unlucky and he’s been unlucky tonight with Antony,” he told Premier League Productions.
“But, he’s got some good players to come in.
“Rashford came off the bench tonight, I think Sancho is looking as good as he has looked all season.

“I’m a little bit sorry the season has got to end for him, he’s looking fit, he’s looking trim, he’s looking quick and he’s looking confident as well.
“So I think he could come into that final.”
United had gone into the clash with Chelsea knowing a point would guarantee a top four finish.
And they were too strong for the Blues right from the very beginning, with Erik ten Hag’s side then cruising to victory.
Casemiro scored his second goal in a week, with the Brazil international heading his side ahead with just six minutes on the clock.

Anthony Martial doubled United’s advantage before half time, tapping in from close range after some good work from Sancho.
Bruno Fernandes bagged a penalty, with the Portugal international bagging his 12th goal across all competitions in the process.
And Marcus Rashford then added gloss to the display, with the Red Devils forward hitting the 30-goal barrier for the first time in his career.
Joao Felix did manage to break United’s resolve in the closing stages.
But it wasn’t enough for Chelsea to earn anything from the contest, with the Blues well-beaten on the day.

Ten Hag praised his side after the showdown by saying: “This club belongs in the Champions League.
“It’s not easy in the Premier League so a lot compete for that. It’s massive when you get it done.”
When asked what he wanted to see from his players, he said: “[That] we wanted to win. We showed the winning attitude.
“Chelsea have outstanding players but in the counter attacks we were really good, really dangerous.
“We scored four in the end. We should’ve scored more but they could score as well.
“Our defence was better second half. First half we had problems between the lines. They played without pressure, could go forward.
“You have to strike them and take advantage of the spaces you get and we didn’t always. Second goal was late in the first half and could’ve been earlier.”
United are next in action against Fulham on Sunday (4pm).
The Red Devils have already beaten the Cottagers twice this season – winning 2-1 at Craven Cottage before claiming a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford in the FA Cup back in March.
