Manchester United are said to have held talks with Adrien Rabiot's agent over a prospective transfer this summer.
A number of clubs are reported to be targeting the Juventus midfielder, including United's Premier League rivals Arsenal and Everton.
Rabiot's mother Veronique – who acts as his agent – is said to have been involved in preliminary discussions regarding her sons availability.
According to Gazzetto dello Sport, representatives of United have met with Veronique, though it is unclear who approached who to arrange the meeting.
Rabiot has been an important member of Juventus' squad this season, though his future at the club remains clouded in speculation.
The 25-year-old only joined Juve from PSG on a free last summer, but rumours suggest he could be offloaded at the end of the season to raise transfer funds.
Reports in France stated that Arsenal and Everton had already been touted the player, with Juventus offering Rabiot for the relatively modest fee of £27million.
Given Juve landed Rabiot for nothing when they signed him, they are seemingly happy to accept less than his market value in order to get him off the books.
The Serie A giants are thought to be weighing up a bid to bring United's Paul Pogba back to the club.
Former Juventus star Alessio Tacchinardi has urged his old club to sell both Rabiot and ex-Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey to make room for Pogba's return.
Tacchinardi told Tuttosport : “In order to get Pogba back, I would let Rabiot and Ramsey go, even if the Welshman did show a few signs of life in the last few games.”
