Manchester United’s reported interest in Marcos Llorente has sparked Atletico Madrid into discussions of a new contract.

Llorente is a key player for Diego Simeone, but reports in March suggested that United were keen on the 26-year-old.

AS claimed that the Red Devils had contacted Atletico over a move, while offering £68m for Llorente.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked, leaving supporters concerned that he may be heading out of the exit door this summer.

And the club’s CEO, Miguel Angel Gil, is said to be handling the discussions himself, having already met with Llorente’s agent to get the ball rolling and “intensify” discussions..

It is hoped that the new extension will be agreed and confirmed within the coming days, ending any speculation.

The 19-year-old winger has scored 10 goals and registered six assists to help Nordsjælland reach the play-offs this season.

United will face competition from Liverpool and Ajax for Sulemana though, who only joined the Danish side from the African Right to Dream Academy in his native Ghana last year, but is already seen as a bright prospect.

The Ghanaian netted his 10th goal of the season in Nordsjælland’s 2-2 draw against FC Copenhagen in the play-offs on Monday.
