Man Utd paying Edinson Cavani £80,000-a-week more than he asked Real Madrid for

Manchester United are set to sign Edinson Cavan for £200,000-a-week – but it is £80,000 each week more than rivals Real Madrid were asked for.

The Uruguayan, whose contract as PSG ended over the summer, is set for an “imminent” move to Old Trafford which will keep him at the club for two years.

With 200 goals in more than 300 games for Les Parisiens, the 33-year-old will be signing on for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in a deal worth £200,000-a-week.

But a deal for the Uruguayan would still see United lose out on a weekly basis to Madrid.

According to Marca , the Spanish side were “offered” Cavani in a deal worth £120,000-a-week in a two-year contract in September.

Cavani’s deal at United would see him become the fourth-highest earner at Old Trafford, £175,000-a-week behind top-earner David de Gea.

Paul Pogba is second on £290,000-a-week while forward Anthony Martial makes up the top three on £250,000-a-week.

The forward is PSG’s all-time top-scorer, beating former United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s record for the French side in January 2018.

And it saw the 33-year-old enjoy gaining some title-winning experience by winning six Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups and five French League Cups during his time in Paris.

But the 33-year-old struggled to break into the front-three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel di Maria last year, making just 22 appearances in all competitions.

Despite his lack of game-time, though, Cavani has told United that he has "unfinished business" in his career.

United’s pursuit of the Uruguayan appears to have ended their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho, who the club had “agreed” personal terms with.

Despite talks of a £108m deal between the clubs, the German side insisted that the 20-year-old was not for sale this year.

Cavani is expected to have his medical this weekend, where the forward will also have to choose his shirt number.
