Richard Arnold addressed numerous troublesome topics during a no-holds-barred meeting with Manchester United staff this month, according to reports. And the Red Devils chief executive confirmed the latest on potential plans to welcome Mason Greenwood back to the club after his season-long loan at Getafe.
In August, reports claimed that Arnold had informed United staff that the plan was to reintegrate Greenwood into Erik ten Hag’s squad this season.
The 21-year-old forward hasn’t featured for United since January 2022, when he was arrested. He was later charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive and controlling behaviour.
Greenwood denied all allegations, and the Crown Prosecution dropped all charges against him in February of this year, prompting a six-month internal probe into whether he should remain at the club.
After a reported U-turn on his stance due to mass backlash, Arnold confirmed that United were satisfied Greenwood was innocent and had mutually agreed to help him resume his career elsewhere.
On deadline day, the England international completed a loan move to La Liga outfit Getafe. He made his debut against Osasuna last weekend.
United communicated that it was highly unlikely that Greenwood would represent the club again beyond his temporary expedition in Spain.

But there is still speculation surrounding Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford, given his contract expires in 2025.
Some fans are concerned that if Greenwood rediscovers his best form and lights up the Spanish top flight this term, United would be tempted to ignore the outside noise and offer him a second chance next year.
That was one of many issues raised with Arnold before he spoke with United staff in a Zoom meeting on Monday.
According to The Athletic, he was asked if he could promise that Greenwood wouldn’t don the iconic red shirt again.
And Arnold simmered fears by relaying United’s initial stance, telling those on the call that there was ‘no expectation of Mason playing for Manchester United’.

There may be little space for Greenwood next summer despite current concerns over Ten Hag’s right-wing options.
Antony and Jadon Sancho are currently out of contention due to off-field matters, with the latter facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford.
There is an expectation that United will target a new right-winger as early as January to replace the 23-year-old.
Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund promises to lead the line for years to come, but Ten Hag is thought to want to recruit another striker.
