Manchester United’s Paul Pogba has expressed his love for Chelsea midfielder and international team-mate N’Golo Kante, claiming that the 30-year-old is the most well-liked footballer in the history of the game. Kante has played a starring role for Thomas Tuchel’s side as of late, with his performances against Real Madrid over two legs helping the Blues to book their place in this season’s Champions League final.
The Frenchman has only started 23 matches in the Premier League since the beginning of the campaign, but is still widely regarded as one of the division’s finest defensive midfielders.
He is a two-time champion with both Leicester City and Chelsea, and lifted the World Cup with France alongside Pogba back in 2018.
The latter, who has played with Kante on no less than 34 occasions, has waxed lyrical over his compatriot’s all-round game and off-field personality.
Pogba listed a number of the Chelsea man’s qualities in an interview with beIN Sports, admitting that it is difficult to hold a negative opinion of him.
“He’s the most beloved player in the history of football,” said the United midfielder.

“You’ve got to love him, you cannot hate him, it is not possible. He is humble, kind, professional. He will never complain, he will work.
“He’s got everything. He’s good technically, with a good passing quality, and he’s everywhere on the pitch. I even say he appears out of the ground!
“You don’t see him, and poof, he’s out! He gets the ball, he has the finish. He’s everywhere. To have a player like that by your side, what more can you ask for?”
Pogba’s view appears to be shared by Chelsea boss Tuchel, who previously revealed that he wanted to sign Kante during his spells in charge of Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.
The German manager has been spotted hugging the Blues man after recent victories, and admitted earlier this month that he is delighted to finally have the opportunity to work with the midfielder on a regular basis.
“The guy is a top guy,” Tuchel told reporters before Chelsea’s win over Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.
“He is the guy you need to win trophies and that’s why we are so happy he’s here and he’s at our club.
“I was dreaming about this player and fighting for this player, dreaming about this player in any club I was coaching so now he’s my player.
“He’s won every trophy except for the Champions League, hopefully he will do everything that we get this trophy and for me, he’s an example.
“He’s an unbelievable input for any team in the world. We are so happy he plays for us, he is key and will be key tomorrow in the best way possible.”
Kante has played 216 times for Chelsea since joining the west London club from Leicester immediately after their remarkable Premier League triumph five years ago.
He has chipped in with 11 goals and 12 assists in the process, with his most recent strike coming against Manchester City during a 2-1 defeat last season.
