Man Utd told Jadon Sancho ‘ticks all the boxes’ for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side

Manchester United have been urged not to give up on their pursuit of Jadon Sancho, as he 'ticks all the boxes' for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Sancho was identified as United's top target this summer, but Borussia Dortmund are holding firm on their £108million valuation and the Red Devils have so far refused to meet it.

With no sign of a compromise being reached, United appear to be focusing on other targets.

They are in pole position to sign midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax, as well as retaining an interest in Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

But former Old Trafford favourite Darren Fletcher says Solskjaer should stick to his guns and demand that United's board deliver Sancho – believing the 20-year-old will solve a problem position on United's right wing.

“At his young age, to be doing what he’s doing at that level of football is fantastic and there’s no doubt that he has got a bright future in the game," said Fletcher in quotes reported by Metro.

Sancho has scored 34 goals in 99 games for Dortmund since leaving Manchester City for the Bundesliga in 2017.

Solskjaer used Daniel James and Mason Greenwood on the right of United's attack last season, and while the former has yet to fully convince, the latter is earmarked to one day flourish in a centre-forward role.

Fletcher said: “It’s clearly a position that Manchester United, I feel, have needed for a number of years now, somebody who naturally wants to play off that right-hand side.

“So, I think that it ticks all the boxes in that respect but – at the same time – these transfers are very, very difficult. He’d be a fantastic acquisition for anyone who gets him.”

Fletcher played for United from, winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Champions League and Club World Cup.
