Man Utd transfer news as Pogba told to leave and Ronaldo decides preferred move

While Manchester United have enjoyed a period of consistency on-the-pitch, there is major upheaval behind the scenes as supporters continue to protest against the club's owners.

Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool was postponed after huge demonstrations at Old Trafford, while there are now plans in place to target the club's corporate sponsors.

The Glazers meanwhile, have recently suggested they will back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the summer transfer window as United look to close the gap on champions-elect Manchester City.

The Red Devils have all but sewed up second spot in the league, but are a long way behind their local rivals, with a number of new signings required.

A host of high-profile players have been linked with a move, with Solskjaer looking to upgrade his squad in a number of areas.

Here's the latest batch of transfer rumours regarding Manchester United :

Pogba urged to complete exit

Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly has told Paul Pogba that only leaving Manchester United will allow to ‘shine in the football world’.

Speculation has been rife about the World Cup winner’s future ever since agent Mino Raiola claimed he would push for an exit in 2021.

Pogba will be a free agent at the end of next season and United bosses could be forced into a sale this summer to ensure they get some sort of transfer fee for their record signing.

And Desailly thinks that without leaving United, he will not reach is full potential.

“The elements around him are not fitting with his quality, his state of mind,” he told beIN Sports.

"He needs a good city. He needs a good team who play for him. He needs a coach who understands him.

“Out of four elements to make Pogba the best…if only two of the elements are there it’s not enough for him to express himself.

"There is two out of four [at Manchester United] so probably he has to go somewhere else to gain an extra one to potentially be able to show that consistency and that talent that he has and shine in the football world.”

Ronaldo's 'preferred option'

Cristiano Ronaldo would reportedly rather return to Sporting, if he is to leave Juventus this summer.

The Portuguese star is looking to return to his boyhood club once he leaves the Italian giants – which could be sooner than expected.

Juventus are keen to get Ronaldo off their wage bill – with his hefty salary likely to limit the list of potential suitors greatly.

United and PSG have both been touted as potentia destinations, but Portuguese newspaper Record have said Ronaldo 'wants to end his career at Sporting'.

His mother, Dolores Aveiro, and the rest of the family are known to be huge supporters of the Portuguese club.

Heaton on the radar

United are considering a move for Aston Villa ‘keeper Tom Heaton, if David De Gea leaves the club at the end of the season.

De Gea has slipped down the pecking order in recent weeks and is now the definite No.2 behind Dean Henderson.

Should he remain out of the line-up, he could look to force a summer exit, with PSG one of the clubs linked.

And the Daily Star reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is preparing for his potential departure and could turn to Heaton for his replacement as he looks for a back-up goalie.

Heaton started his career at Old Trafford before leaving for Burnley and making his name at Turf Moor.

The 35-year-old has not made a Premier League appearance for Dean Smith's side in over 16 months after suffering a serious knee injury at the start of 2020.
