Manchester United have no interest in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara and believe the player’s representatives have used the club to try and put pressure on Liverpool to make a bid for the Spaniard.
Thiago has made it clear he plans on leaving Bayern this summer with Anfield his favoured destination.
United have already added Donny van de Beek to their midfield ranks which includes Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
The Red Devils came close to signing Thiago back in 2013 when David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at Old Trafford.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no interest in bringing the 29-year-old to the club this summer, Express Sport understands.

However, former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness believes Liverpool and United may have an agreement in place with Thiago already.
Speaking to Sport1, Hoeness said: “It is a difficult situation. A while ago we agreed on a new four-year contract. Some days later he said: ‘I’m looking for a new challenge.’ Which is totally okay.
“I think he obviously has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or both of them. Now both clubs are bluffing, and no one has contacted Bayern Munich officially.
“From my point of view, that has no style. They’re trying to blackmail us, by waiting until the last week, when they’re going to make a cheap offer.

“In that case FC Bayern have to ask themselves the question: do they want to go along with that or do they tell the player that he has to stay.
“It’s going to be a hot three weeks until [the transfer window closes on] October 5.”
Thiago may have ended his Bayern career in some style by winning the Champions League last season.
United are instead focusing all their efforts on signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
