Ten Hag hails Maguire after Man Utd beat Copenhagen
Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho has reportedly made a good impression on the academy prospects he is mixing with while exiled from the first team. The out-of-favour winger showed a particular touch of class after being left out of the travelling party to face Bayern Munich last month.
Sancho failing to reproduce the quality he showed across four seasons at Borussia Dortmund meant his United career was already stalling by the time manager Erik ten Hag called him out publicly in September.
The 23-year-old had been left out of the matchday squad to face Arsenal, and when Ten Hag divulged that it was due to a lack of effort in training, Sancho struck out on social media with a rant that ultimately saw him banished from using first-team facilities.
Going through the motions either alone or with United’s academy players, Sancho has been completely out of the picture for the last few weeks, with Ten Hag insistent on receiving a face-to-face apology.

Sancho has so far refused, but the winger is at least acquitting himself well behind the scenes. According to The Athletic, he stayed to watch United’s under-18s at Carrington after being left at home while his team-mates jetted off to Bavaria.
And Sancho stayed on after the final whistle to answer questions from the youngsters, on whom his ‘politeness’ is believed to have made a ‘good impression’. There would still appear to be no way back for the ex-BVB star unless he swallows his pride and apologises to Ten Hag.

Reports indicate that talks between Sancho’s camp and senior figures at United have reached deadlock, with sporting director John Murtough and several Red Devils stars doing their best to coax an apology from the wide man.
No resolution before the January transfer window could result in Sancho leaving Old Trafford, either on loan or permanently. Dortmund have reportedly shown an interest in organising a reunion, but whether they could afford his extortionate wages is another matter.
Juventus and Barcelona have also been linked, although there are question marks over whether they could get anywhere near the £73million transfer fee United shelled out back in 2021.
It is thought that the Red Devils scouted out a switch to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the summer transfer window, and while it didn’t materialise before the deadline, talks could reignite after the turn of the year.
