Where could Greenwood relaunch his football career?
Mason Greenwood is facing the possibility of being left without a club when his exit from Manchester United is finalised with no forthcoming offers for the forward. The one-time England international will leave his boyhood club following the conclusion of an internal investigation into his conduct away from the pitch, with United helping Greenwood rebuild his career elsewhere. But offers have been far and few between for the striker as he mulls over his next move.
The 21-year-old has not played since January 2022 following his arrest, with Greenwood later charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive controlling behaviour. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges in February this year, however, allowing the player to return to football.
Greenwood has been left devastated by United’s decision to let him leave after it was expected they would welcome him back into the fold, only for the Red Devils’ chief executive Richard Arnold to perform a massive U-turn over keeping him amid heavy pressure from varied organsiations.
The finer details of Greenwood’s departure are still under consideration, with United committed to supporting him in his efforts to find a new team. But, according to The Sun, only one club – an unnamed Albanian team – have expressed their interest in signing Greenwood, with a lack of options from the Premier League and other European clubs.

A source quoted by the newspaper claims Greenwood was hopeful of being able to pull on a United shirt again and he is now ‘worried’ he may never play in the top leagues, with the prospect of moving to Albania ‘never’ part of his plans.
His hopes of re-starting his career under former United boss Jose Mourinho have been dashed, with Roma officials indicating they are no longer interested in signing him after moving for Serdar Azmoun instead.
Saudi Pro League clubs are yet to make a move, although it remains to be seen if whether consider heading to the Middle East if offered the chance as he recently became a father for the first time.

Before the decision was made public, there had been enquiries from Italy and Turkey into the potential availability for the 21-year-old. Two unnamed Premier League clubs also made an initial approach to discuss a loan deal.
The options currently on the table include a permanent sale, a loan exit or a termination of his £75,000-per-week contract, which still has two years left to run.
In which case, Greenwood would be able to pocket a substantial amount if United were to cancel his deal before its expiry, which may give him more time to drum up interest from elsewhere. The player’s father is currently handling his affairs while the search for new representation goes on.
