Miguel Almiron unleashed ‘revenge’ on Jack Grealish with full-blooded tackle

It might have taken eight-and-a-half months but Miguel Almiron finally exacted brutal revenge on Jack Grealish … at least, that's what fans thought.

The Paraguayan star, who has been in red-hot form for Newcastle this season, took a chunk out of one of Grealish's perfectly-sculpted calves as he mowed the Manchester City midfielder down during the first half of Saturday's clash between the two sides.

During City's title parade back in May, an intoxicated Grealish mocked Almiron by accusing team-mate Riyad Mahrez of "playing like" him after the Algerian was hooked early during their 3-2 win over Aston Villa on the final day.

Footage of the jibe went viral when it was uploaded to Bernardo Silva's Instagram, and although Grealish later apologised for it, fans reckon Almiron had been waiting to get his own back, and took his opportunity at the Etihad.

"That Almiron challenge on Grealish was personal," one fan tweeted. Another said: "Ouch, that looked brutal, got to be a revenge tackle surely?"

A third commented: "All here for the Almiron/Grealish revenge tour."

Almiron may well have left Grealish in a pile on the floor, but it was the Englishman who had the last laugh as City sealed a 2-0 win, with goals from Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva.

It comes as welcome relief for Grealish, who has been largely outshone by Almiron all season, with the Newcastle man netting 10 league goals so far – more than Grealish has managed in all competitions across his entire year-and-a-half stint in Manchester.
