Dutch striker Bas Dost has given the footballing word the positive news it was hoping for after his sudden collapse during Sunday’s game against AZ Alkmaar.
The NEC Nijmegen lost consciousness in the closing stages of the Eredivisie clash, causing match to be abandoned.
Both sets of players formed a ring around Dost as he received treatment before regaining consciousness and being carried off on a stretcher.
It was a scary moment for both the players and fans but Dost has revealed that he is now in a good place.
‘I’m doing well,’ he wrote alongside a picture of himself with his thumb up in hospital.

Dost lost consciousness in the closing stages of his side’s clash with AZ Alkmaar
‘The help I received on the field was fantastic. I’m in the hospital now and I feel good. Thanks for all the support.’
Dost had scored and assisted in the match, which Nijmegen were winning 2-1 before it was called off.
He received a standing ovation from the crowd as he was carried off the pitch.
Dost, 34, has previously played for the likes of Sporting CP and Eintracht Frankfurt.
