Neymar has been branded a “real clown” after earning and scoring two penalties in Brazil’s 4-2 win over Peru on Tuesday.
The Paris St-Germain superstar bagged a hat-trick overall for Tite’s side, helping his national team claim victory over their South American rivals in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.
His first two strikes at the Estadio Nacional were both penalties he won single-handedly; with the first allowing him to level proceedings in the 28th minute following Andre Carrillo’s opener.
And with the score poised at 2-2, Neymar tucked away another penalty in the 83rd minute to edge Brazil in front.
Peru duo Carlos Caceda and Carlos Zambrano were also sent off late on before he completed his hat-trick deep into stoppage time.
Yet while he admits the former Barcelona ace possesses plenty of quality, Zambrano has hit out at Neymar for “throwing himself” to the floor to win penalties in Tuesday’s encounter.
“Honestly, he is a great player, one of the best in the world, but for me he is a real clown,” the Peru defender told American Television program 'La banda del Chino'.
“He is aware of everything he did on the field, he is a great player but he was looking for the slightest foul.
“In the penalty area he threw himself four or five times to see if they would award him a penalty and in the end he achieved his goal, with two penalties, but they weren’t.”
Zambrano then added: “It's Brazil and at the touch [immediately] they went to look at the VAR. Whether the play was positive or negative, they did review the images because it is Brazil.”

Neymar’s hat-trick against Peru moved him ahead of Ronaldo in the all-time Brazil goalscoring charts, with the 28-year-old now two clear of his Selecao predecessor on 64 goals.
He will now have his sights on the country’s all-time record, which all-time great Pele still holds with 77 goals.
