Real Madrid reportedly see Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as the perfect heir to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Norway international has been in sensational form this season. But signing him won’t be easy, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea also keen on the forward.
Real Madrid have seen Karim Benzema shine this term.
But with the France international approaching the twilight years of his career, Los Blancos are on the lookout for reinforcements.
Their preference is still Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, with club president Florentino Perez eager to lure the 2018 World Cup winner away from the Parc des Princes.
Yet OkDiario say that, within the club, they see Haaland as their true replacement for Ronaldo.
Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in the summer transfer window of 2009, with Los Blancos paying a £80million fee for his signature.

Yet while he was costly, the Portugal international proved to be worth the investment.
Ronaldo scored a remarkable 450 goals from 438 appearances for the club, propelling them to two La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns.
In the end, he was sold to Juventus in 2018 after Perez deemed him past his best.
And while Real won La Liga under Zinedine Zidane last term, they’re yet to truly find a replacement for the 36-year-old.
Haaland is now seen as the chosen one, with the Norway international scoring a sublime 31 goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League combined.

But securing his arrival won’t be easy with half of Europe’s elite also keen to snap him up.
Manchester United see him as the ideal upgrade for Anthony Martial, with the France international scoring just seven goals across all competitions this term.
Manchester City are keen on Haaland as they hunt a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero, who is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium behind this summer.
Barcelona could move for the Dortmund star if they lose Lionel Messi, who continues to be linked with moves to either PSG or City.
And Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel views Haaland as the ideal player to go alongside the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz in attack.
The report says Dortmund have set a price of £129million for Haaland, a fee that would be too high for Real at the current moment in time.
But, regardless, the La Liga giants still haven’t ruled out bringing him in.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid duo Sergio Ramos and Benzema have both recently talked up Haaland.
Ramos said: “Haaland or Mbappe if I were a coach? I would like to have both of them, but a coach does not sign.
“Perhaps, due to the circumstances and the current situation, today I think it would be a little easier to sign Haaland.
“It would never be bad to reinforce Madrid with a 9 like Haaland, who has something that we do not have: speed, hunger, height … Mbappe has it too, of course, but it would be much easier today to come to terms with Haaland.”
And Benzema said: “How am I going to talk about a player who is not at our club? What Sergio [Ramos] said the other day was Sergio’s thoughts.
“I have been here for a long time and every year we talk about strikers who could score goals for Real Madrid.
“Haaland is a young player who scores a lot of goals at his club. That’s all. He has to work hard to help his team.
“And if one day he has the chance to come to Madrid, and if he does want to, he would join us. That’s it.”
