Rio Ferdinand has praised Arsenal’s January transfer window business, especially the capture of Jorginho as he agreed that they can win the Premier League this season.
The Gunners snapped up Jorginho, Leandro Trossard, and Jakub Kiwor to bolster the depth of their squad in a bid to remain in control in their title race, as they currently sit five points clear of second-place Manchester City.
A key signing that came as a shock was Jorginho arriving at the Emirates for £12million from Premier League rivals Chelsea, with the Gunners desperately in need of a midfielder due to the long-term injury to Mohamed Elneny.
The Italian international has started the match against strugglers Everton on the bench, but Ferdinand believes his ability to win could prove vital as the Gunners look to maintain their form in the second half of the campaign.
‘I think it’s a fantastic signing. He knows his way around the Premier League. He doesn’t need to understand a different culture,’ Ferdinand said on BT Sport prior to Arsenal’s match against Everton.

The Gunners also signed Leandro Trossard from Premier League rivals Brighton this month
‘He knows how to win at different levels. He’s a different kind of player to Partey, but understands that role. He’s intelligent.
‘You need to be an intelligent football player to play in a system Arteta puts together. It’s a good window.’
The former Manchester United defender also agreed with his fellow pundits Martin Keown and Rachel Brown-Finness that Arsenal can win the league – despite many still speculating Manchester City will catch them.
Former Arsenal legend Keown insisted: ‘I’m a believer. But there’s a long way to go.’
Brown-Finness added: ‘I think Arsenal win the league.’ Before Ferdinand swiftly agreed with both, by saying: ‘I agree.’
Ferdinand did, however, admit that there will still be bumps in the road with plenty of matches left to be played this season.
‘It’s about composure. There’s moments of pressure, but they deal with it with a calmness and coolness like they’ve won two or three championships already.

‘There will be more bumps in the road coming up, but they don’t panic. They go a goal down, not a problem.’
Keown added: ‘They’re the youngest team in the Premier League. When we were winning [him and Rio], we were late in our careers, I certainly was. I look at the two central defenders today for Arsenal, they’re very young.
‘The goalkeeper as well. In that triangle, usually there’s someone with maturity who’s won it before, but they’re just on a journey.
‘They’re enjoying it. They’re taking it game to game. We have to be cautious. It’s been 20 years.’
