Romelu Lukaku in Belgium squad, Marouane Fellaini omitted

Romelu Lukaku has been included in Belgium’s squad for the upcoming international break, despite being a doubt for Sunday’s Manchester derby.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho revealed Lukaku had trained on Friday and that his fitness would be monitored ahead of Sunday’s game against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Lukaku was absent for United’s two previous games – away victories coming from 1-0 down to beat both Bournemouth and Juventus 2-1.

Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez says they are “in contact” with United and that they “will make a final decision after the weekend”.

United midfielder Fellaini, who did feature in Wednesday’s dramatic win over Juventus, but from the bench, has not been included in the 25-man Belgium squad. Martinez says he is “on his way back, but not fully fit”.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen are the other notable absentees – they are both out until December due to injury.

Martinez says they want to introduce another member to the coaching staff following the departure of Thierry Henry, who is now Monaco head coach, and that the target is to hire a replacement in March.
