Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of Romeo Lavia after he suffered a suspected ankle injury during a training session at Cobham.
Chelsea news, exclusives and analysis
The Belgian, who was not selected for the national side following a disrupted pre-season, was training with a reduced Chelsea squad this week.
The midfielder joined the club from Southampton in a £60m deal last month but he’s yet to make his debut for the Blues as he searches for full fitness.
But Lavia’s wait could be delayed even further as Belgian football expert Sacha Tavolieri claims the midfielder suffered an ankle injury in today’s training session.
It’s claimed the Belgian could have suffered an ankle ligament injury, which would be devastating news for the midfielder and Mauricio Pochettino.
Lavia will be sent for a scan and Chelsea will be hoping for the best.
Chelsea saw off competition from Liverpool to sign the 21-year-old, who arrived shortly after the capture of Moises Caicedo.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in their first game back after the international break.
Chelsea are already without first team stars Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Carney Chukwuemeka.
