Ryan Giggs urges his Wales players not to repeat mistakes of England side… after three of Gareth Southgate’s squad were ruled out of Thursday’s friendly for breaking coronavirus rules
- Tammy Abraham, Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell will not play on Thursday
- The trio attended a party on Saturday night, breaking English coronavirus laws
- Wales boss Ryan Giggs has urged his stars to stick to the strict Covid rules

Ryan Giggs has warned his Wales stars to stick to the Covid rules after three England players were ruled out of Thursday’s friendly at Wembley for breaking them.
Tammy Abraham, Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell will be absent after footage emerged of them at Abraham’s surprise 23rd birthday party last Saturday night – the gathering breached English coronavirus laws that ban groups of more than six from mixing.
The incident was another off-field headache for England boss Gareth Southgate. Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden were axed from this squad after they invited women to the team hotel following the win in Iceland last month, breaching Covid rules.

Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham revealed: ‘It was one of the first talks we had when we joined up with Wales, about the importance of the virus and how we need to be extra safe and extra wary.
‘This is a real-life situation that’s happening and we need to make sure we are not putting each other at risk, and that we are doing everything by the letter. Ultimately if we do that we’ll be safe and healthy.’
Wales will be without the injured Gareth Bale against England as well as midfielder Aaron Ramsey, after his club Juventus ordered their players into a bio-secure bubble following two positive coronavirus tests among non-playing staff.
Giggs hopes Ramsey will be able to link up again with the squad for next week’s Nations League fixtures in Ireland and Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, defender Connor Roberts believes the absence of the three England players could work in Wales’ favour.
He said: ‘I wouldn’t say they are dumb lads. They know what they’ve done was wrong. In the moment they probably didn’t think of the consequences and for them it’s not turned out [very well].
‘I don’t think you can be too harsh on them, they made a mistake and because of who they are they get more of a backlash. It’s disappointing for them, but hopefully a bonus for us in the long run.’
