Ryan Reynolds brought the father of a former Wrexham star to tears after sending him a touching message when his son was let go.
Christian Dibble left Wrexham by mutual consent in January, and his father Andy revealed that Reynolds got in touch with him on Twitter (now X) to tell him how proud he should be of his boy. Dibble Sr. admitted he was struck by how attentive the Hollywood star was, in spite of his fame.
"When Christian left Wrexham, Ryan sent me a private message on Twitter," the 58-year-old said. "It was fantastic, and it made me feel so proud. Ryan was really kind.

"He thanked me for Christian's service to Wrexham and talked about him as a goalkeeper, but more than anything, he said how proud I should be for bringing up a special son. It brought a bit of a tear to my eye, really. I did not expect somebody with his fame to message me, but it meant so much to me. It was really special."
Christian spent six years at Wrexham, though he served most of that time as a back-up goalkeeper. He played over 60 times for the Welsh club, but barely featured during Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's ownership after they signed a host of new goalkeepers, including former Premier League and England ace Ben Foster.

After his release in January he joined Kidderminster Harriers and helped the club win promotion to the National League. Previously he played for the likes of Nuneaton Town and Chelmsford City.
His father Andy, who is head of goalkeeping at Accrington Stanley, was a player too. He enjoyed stints at Manchester City, Rangers, Cardiff and Luton, and also spent a few years at Wrexham before retiring in 2005. He also played three times for Wales.
