Jurgen Klopp dismisses Mohamed Salah transfer talk
While the major European leagues’ transfer windows slammed shut last night there is still business to be done elsewhere. Big spenders Saudi Arabia have five more days left to buy players while Turkey have 13.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad will be hoping they can tempt Mohamed Salah away from Liverpool in that time by forcing the Reds’ hands with an improved offer. They recently had a £150m bid rejected but aren’t showing any signs of giving up.
Reports from Sky Sports suggest they are considering a world-record £200m swoop in the coming days. Meanwhile, in Turkey, Galatasaray are still discussing a late move for Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman has fallen out of favour with Erik ten Hag and has been deemed surplus to requirements. Galatasaray had a £1m loan offer rejected by United earlier in the window but the two clubs remain in contact regarding a possible switch.

That’s all
That’s it form us. We’ll be back with more transfer news tomorrow.
Galatasaray try to raid Spurs
Sports Digitale in Turkey are reporting that Galatasaray are looking to raid Spurs as the transfer deadline is open for several more weeks.
They are said to have sent a bid to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Spurs while they also like Davinson Sanchez.
Sanchez is said to have agreed personal terms with the Turkish giants ahead of a potential move.
Monaco, Nottingham Forest and PSV looked at landing the Colombian in the window but couldn’t get a deal over the line.
Ferguson bags hat-trick
Evan Ferguson netted a hat-trick for Brighton in their 3-1 victory over Newcastle.
He becomes the fourth teenager in Premier League history to net a top-flight hat-trick at the age of 18.
Ferguson is sure to be Brighton’s next big sale although they will have no interest in letting him go anytime soon.
It would be no surprise to see the so-called Big Six come calling but Brighton will be well within their right to demand in excess of £150m.
Postecoglou speaks out on Johnson transfer
Ange Postecoglou has outlined why he brought Brennan Johnson to Tottenham after the 5-2 win at Burnley.
Johnson joined on deadline day from Nottingham Forest for £47.5million but he was not available for the trip to Turf Moor.
Postecoglou said: “He’s young, exciting player, ambitious guy. It’s no secret that that’s been the model for me, it’s about the person you’re bringing in as the footballer.
“He’s hungry, he wants to take his game to another level.”
Man City land Baptiste
Manchester City have signed 19-year-old Jamal Baptiste following his departure from West Ham.
The defender has already been loaned out to Lommel SK, who are part of the City Ground.
Wolves target kicks up fuss
Fabrizio Romano says Salernitana have decided to drop striker Boulaye Dia for the way he reacted to a rejected bid from Wolves.
Romano tweeted: “Boulaye Dia has not been called up by Salernitana for tomorrow’s game after his reaction when club decided not to sell him to Wolves.
Official bid revealed here yesterday was submitted on Thursday night, turned down by Salernitana.”
Dia had also been looked at by Everton in the summer market.
Liverpool tipped to swap Salah for Saka
Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes Liverpool should make a £150m move for Bukayo Saka in January if they cash in on Mohamed Salah this summer. Al-Ittihad are said to be preparing a £200m bid for the Egyptian superstar as they look to test the Reds’ resolve.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday debate, he said: “Do they sell him [Salah] for £200m and then in January see if they can get Saka from Arsenal for 150?”
Seven free agents your club can still sign
The Premier League’s summer transfer window closed on Saturday night, but there are still a plethora of players hoping to secure a move. Numerous stars were released over the past few months and are eagerly awaiting approaches, and the free agent market could present interesting opportunities for the majority of top clubs around Europe.
Here are seven stars that can be signed by your club for free: Eden Hazard, David de Gea, Jesse Lingard, Alfredo Morelos, Sergio Ramos, Papu Gomez, Kasper Schmeichel
Everton ‘see two deals collapse’
Everton had two transfers reportedly fall through on deadline day. Lille had approached the Toffees to sign Andre Gomes on Friday but the switch couldn’t be completed after the Merseyside club were unable to strike up a deal with Aston Villa to bring Leander Dendoncker to Goodison Park.
According to the French newspaper La Parisien, Gomes’ departure was dependent on whether they could find a suitable replacement in the centre of the park. Dendoncker had been identified as an ideal signing but a deal couldn’t be struck, therefore Gomes’ move fell through as well.
Salah contract details emerge
Al-ittihad are reportedly willing to offer Mohamed Salah a total package worth between £397m and £476m including three years of image rights as an ambassador for Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Pro League champions are hoping to sign Salah onto a deal until June 2027 but recently had a £150m bid rejected by the Reds.
Premier League confirm four deal sheet
The Premier League have confirmed that four deal sheets have been submitted for moves to be completed after the transfer window closed at 11pm.
Alex Iwobi’s switch to Fulham and Andrew Omobamidele’s transfer to Nottingham Forest are among those that have been lodged for.
Man Utd make Greenwood plans clear
Manchester United insist they will “continue to offer support” to Mason Greenwood after completing his controversial loan move to Getafe. The 21-year-old hasn’t played a competitive game of football since he was arrested in January 2022 but should get some minutes under his belt in Spain this season.
A statement released by the club confirming the Englishman’s departure, read: “Mason Greenwood has signed for La Liga side Getafe on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance. The move enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United.
“The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition.”
Salah drops hint
Graeme Souness believes Mohamed Salah and his agents may be hinting that they are open to a move to Al-Ittihad by not dismissing links to the club.
In his latest column for the Daily Mail, Souness wrote: “Make no mistake, Salah is flirting with the Saudis. Neither he nor one of his representatives has come out and categorically said, ‘We do not want to go to Saudi Arabia at this time’.
“If he wanted to stay, someone could have issued a statement to that effect. He is toying with the idea, at the very least, and I think, deep down, he will feel he should go.”
Chelsea deals collapse
Chelsea will keep hold of Conor Gallagher, Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen past the summer transfer window. All four players had been linked with moves away over the past few months but will remain with the Blues at least until January.
Man Utd may sign four more
Even though the transfer window closed on Friday evening, Manchester United are able to still bring in more players as free agents can continue to be signed and registered by Premier League teams past the September 1 deadline.
The likes of Moussa Marega, Eden Hazard and Sergio Ramos are all free agents. Meanwhile, United can also complete free transfers of their own and may consider moving Eric Bailly on free of charge after the player failed to drum up interest in his services during the window.
