- Sheringham has admitted his surprise that the news came out publicly
Former Manchester United forward Teddy Sheringham had admitted that he is surprised by the way Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho’s feud came out in public, comparing it with Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at the club.
Ten Hag said in his post-match press conference he had left Sancho out of the United squad for the trip to Arsenal ‘on his performances in training’.
This led to Sancho taking to social media as he dismissed the claims as ‘completely untrue’ and insisted he has been made a ‘scapegoat’ in a lengthy social media post.
It remains to be seen as to what will happen, with Ten Hag set to hold clear-the-air talks with his winger.
Sherringham has since discussed the situation, admitting his surprise by the news coming out to the public.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sheringham was asked about whether Ferguson would have taken a similar approach. He said: ‘No, not at all. Very, very rarely anyway.
‘The more you can keep things in-house, the more you can control them. Now with social media, people are going to have their say. It just brings more hype around the situation. I’m surprised that it has happened.’
Sherringham continued to label Ten Hag as having the toughest job in football, admitting his surprise at the new coming out.
‘I said at the start of last season that Erik ten Hag had the toughest job in world football. I still think it’s up there because Manchester United fans expect to be winning stuff and when they’re not, the question marks are there,’ he continued.
‘It seems there is some disturbance in the camp as well now. He needs to sort that out. I’m surprised he came out in the public and questioned Jadon Sancho.
‘He must have his reasons for that and he wants him to liven up.’
United return to action after the international break when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
