Six bosses who could save Chelsea if Potter is sacked including former managers

Graham Potter's position as Chelsea boss is looking increasingly untenable following the Blues' latest loss to Tottenham.

Chelsea looked hapless in their 2-0 defeat to London rivals Spurs in what was the Stamford Bridge outfit's 10th loss in 11 games this year. And the club's latest defeat means Potter now has the worst record of any Blues manager in Premier League history, with him securing a paltry two victories in his last 15 league outings.

Figures provided by The Sun show that the ex-Brighton boss Potter has a cringing win percentage of just 27.8% – putting him lower than the likes of flop Blues bosses Rafa Benitez, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Andre-Villas Boas.

The incredulous £323million that club owner Todd Boehly splashed in January alone hasn't been able to help Potter swing the pendulum in West London. And with time running out for the English tactician, the Daily Star Sport takes a closer look at who can replace the bumbling boss in the Chelsea dugout, with a few familiar faces lined up for a shock return to the club.

Whose the best man suited to replace Potter at Stamford Bridge? Let us know in the comments section below

Thomas Tuchel

Tuchel won a special place in the hearts of Chelsea fans when he won the Champions League in 2021. But despite his success, the German was brutally dismissed by Boehly last September, after the American took over in the summer.

His sacking shocked Blues fans, who will gladly take the 49-year-old back at the drop of a hat. Potter was chosen to be Tuchel's replacement but he's yet to show he's capable of filling the ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss' shoes.

Blues fans showed how much they revere Tuchel when they sang his name following Chelsea's 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Man City in January. However, the Blues will have to fend off competition from PSG who are also said to be eyeing Tuchel again as the Ligue 1 giants struggle under Christopher Galtier.

Mauricio Pochettino

Another one of PSG's ex-bosses Poch have also been touted to replace Potter at Stamford Bridge. Poch has been out of management since he was sacked by the French outfit last summer.

But the Blues may have their work cut out convincing the Argentine to take the job after it was claimed via The Sun that he rejected Chelsea's recent advances to be their 'Plan B' if Potter was axed. And then there's the small matter that he managed the Blues' bitter rivals Tottenham in the past, but seeing as he was sacked by Spurs, the 50-year-old may not feel any loyalty towards his former employers.

The Stamford Bridge faithful could take some time to warm up to Poch after he managed Spurs. But if he can help them storm back up the table, it's likely that all will be forgiven.

Diego Simeone

Diego Simeone is another high-profile name that's been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge. He could be just what the Blues need to bring in some silverware after winning two La Liga titles, two Europa Leagues and two Copa del Reys with Atletico.

And the timing for a move to London could be perfect for the Argentine following Atletico's indifferent campaign thus far. He opened up about the fact he could leave the after Atletico crashed out of the Copa del Rey to Real Madrid in January.

Simeone said: “My contract depends a lot on how we finish the club. Every season finale we get together to see how we continue. This year will not be the exception. It is more complex than what you suggest. You will find out when the season ends what will happen.”

Zinedine Zidane

Just like Simeone, Zidane enjoyed incredible success in La Liga, albeit with Atletico's bitter rivals Real Madrid. The iconic Frenchman led Real to two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies across two spells in the Spanish capital.

And he could be lining up a return to the game after being out of work for nearly two years. It was thought he was holding out for the France national job, but ex-team-mate Didier Deschamps still holds the role although Les Bleus lost their World Cup crown to Argentina at the Qatar World Cup.

But again, PSG are admirers of Zidane, so the Blues will have to see off the Parisiens in an attempt to lull Zidane to West London. If the Blues manage to snag Zidane, it will give them one over rivals Manchester United who were keen on the 50-year-old who turned them down before recruiting Erik ten Hag.

Jose Enrique

Enrique's been out of work after getting sacked by Spain following their poor performance at the World Cup. The Spaniards were sent home by Morocco in the round of 16 in Qatar, leading to Enrique's demise.

But despite his misgivings as Spain boss, Enrique's got an impeccable record as club manager. Whilst in charge of Barcelona, he won two LaLiga titles, three Copa del Reys and a Champions League in three years.

And Blues fans will be relishing the thought of the Dutchman working his magic at Stamford Bridge. The club's players could also welcome him with open arms as he revealed he doesn't mind his players having sex before games – although he'd like them to refrain from orgies.

Jose Mourinho

Mourinho's had two spells at Chelsea in the past and both ended with him being sacked. He was first given the boot in 2007, then again in 2015 after returning in 2013.

He etched himself in the club's history by winning three Premier League titles across the two spells. But his relationship thawed with the club's fans after he reneged on his promise to never manage a rival club when he took the Spurs job.

However, Blues fans may forgive the self proclaimed Special One if he can restore the glory days at Stamford Bridge. And he may be available to do so soon as reports claim he's unhappy in his current role with Roma.
