The mutual agreement between United and Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo saved the Red Devils £16m in future wages as their overall outlay on player payments fell to £331.4m from £384m after other departures.
United enjoyed record English record revenues of £684.4m last season but still managed to make a loss of £42.1m despite the Glazer family not taking a dividend for the first time in seven years.

The Sun now report that United's wage bill looks to have been surpassed by Manchester City, Liverpool and also Chelsea – but huge debts remain.
Long-term debt remains at £507m with the cost of serving that sitting at £21.4m last term alone.
Football finance author Kieran Maguire has said: "The club is making losses still, but at least they are substantially lower than the £150m in 2021/22.

“The good news is that wages are only 51 per cent of income. The bad news is that other costs, especially player transfer amortisation, which is over £50m higher than two seasons ago, is not under such good control."
