Tottenham’s Israeli international Manor Solomon has accused Hamas of ‘killing their own people’ following the missile hit on a Gaza hospital.
At least 500 people have been killed after a huge blast struck Al Ahli hospital while it was overwhelmed with wounded and other Palestinians seeking shelter, Gaza health officials said. The Israeli military denied responsibility, saying the explosion was caused by a rocket misfired by Islamic Jihad, while Hamas blamed Israeli air strikes.
In response, Solomon shared a post from an Israeli news site on Instagram which referenced the destruction of the hospital. Along with a picture of the blast, the post included a statement from the Israeli Defence Forces which suggested the explosion was caused by a ‘failed rocket launch by Islamic Jihad’.

Underneath the post, Solomon wrote: “Killing their own people and blaming Israel [with two confused emojis].” Solomon also shared a post from Israeli president Isaac Herzog, who said the blast had been caused by Islamic Jihad. “Never before has the choice been clearer,” Herzog wrote. “Israel is standing against an enemy made of pure evil.”
Islamic Jihad – a smaller, more radical group that often co-operates with Hamas – has called Israel’s accusation “baseless”, while the Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, dismissed the claim as “lies”.
Foreign secretary James Cleverly has said the UK will investigate the destruction of a hospital. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Cleverly said: “The destruction of Al Ahli hospital is a devastating loss of human life.
“The UK has been clear. The protection of civilian life must come first. The UK will work with our allies to find out what has happened and protect innocent civilians in Gaza.”
