Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is training alone after being separated from his sides first team duties, according to Football London.

Ndombele was not part of Spurs’ squad that faced Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman’s absence comes after he frustrated supporters after walking off the pitch slowly on Sunday when his team were 1-0 down against League One Morecambe in their FA Cup third round tie.

It is understood the 25-year-old is training alone with a January move away likely to happen

Ndombele was seen slowing down further when being substituted, as fans booed the midfielder. After leaving the pitch, he drifted down the tunnel before joining the bench for the latter stages of the match.

It has been revealed the 25-year-old has been forced to train alone and away from his fellow teammates. He has joined the rest of the squad, but has not been involved in drills and ball work.

The decision is understood to have been made by both manager Conte and the club, with the player now expected to depart before the end of the January transfer window.

Following his absence on Wednesday, Conte said: ‘It was a technical decision but before to take the decision, I don’t take the decision if I don’t consult the club. There is the club line and I have to follow the club line.’

The Spurs boss was asked whether Ndombele’s time at Tottenham had come to an end, but the manager didn’t commit to answering.

‘In this moment Tanguy Ndombele is a Tottenham player. For this reason, you have to consider him a Tottenham player,’ was all he would say.

Ndombele is keen to leave Spurs, but the club will only allow the player to depart should they receive a suitable fee.

He is keen to play amongst Europe’s elite, and having signed from Lyon for a fee in the region of £60million, finding suitors is likely to be difficult.

Italian giants Napoli are interested in securing his services, but it remains unclear whether Ndombele is be keen on a move to Serie A.

Having made 91 appearances since arriving in the summer of 2019, Ndombele has netted 10 goals and contributed to nine assists.

‘I have seen that many managers struggled about his position,’ Conte told football.london.

‘For sure, Tanguy has the quality but at the same time he has to understand that there is a team and he has to play into the team. It means that it’s important to keep order and to do what the position is asking you to do.

‘We are working very hard with Tanguy – he has to work much more than the others because he has some talent but he has to put this talent into the team, for the best of the team, not for the single player.’
