Klopp insists Liverpool can attract top targets without Champions League football
Thierry Henry walked off in disbelief while covering the Champions League semi-finals on CBS Sports after a humiliating blunder from host Kate Abdo, which left fellow pundit Jamie Carragher doubled over in fits of laughter. The popular trio were at the San Siro to cover the second-leg clash between Inter Milan and AC Milan, with the Nerazzurri going into the match two goals ahead on aggregate following their victory in the reverse fixture last week.
Henry and Carragher, the two regular analysts for Champions League matches on CBS alongside Micah Richards, had been discussing the game before kick-off when a brief slip of the tongue from Abdo left them both in stitches and Carragher fearing for his job. Abdo was speaking to the camera when she mistakenly referred to the channel as Fox Sports, which drew a hilarious reaction from her fellow colleagues on the air.
“There are some other people who aren’t so blessed to be here tonight [on] Fox Sports…” said Abdo, before realising her error and quickly correcting herself: “We’re on CBS Sports, I do apologise.”
Henry was left so embarrassed by Abdo’s mistake that he turned his back and began to walk off the set in jest, before returning to the frame as Carragher fell to his knees and screamed: “We’re all going to get sacked! Are there any jobs going at Fox?”

Abdo went on to offer an excuse for the slip-up as she explained: “The teleprompter had just gone up a little bit! I apologise for that. Oh man, I am about to get fired, I’m so sorry. So sorry, everybody.” Carragher was unable to stop laughing, though, and continued to poke fun at Abdo by asking: “Can you speak to them [Fox] privately about a contract or something for us? Can you get fired on air?”
The blunder came just six days after Carragher was forced to save the day when Abdo was struck with a coughing fit while introducing CBS Sports’ coverage of the first-leg meeting between Inter and AC Milan.

She began: “More drama is on the way. Today, the second semi-final kicks off. AC Milan and Inter Milan, sharing a stadium, a city, and now the rare opportunity to move a step closer to the Champions League final.” Abdo then started to cough and covered her mouth with her hand, prompting Carragher to jump out of his seat in order to offer a bottle of water.
After taking a sip, Abdo said: “Thank you so much. So sorry, everybody. It was a great intro. I totally killed it.”
