Thomas Tuchel has been given a choice of either signing Erling Haaland or Romelu Lukaku. It comes after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich decided how much money the German will get in the transfer window this summer.

Chelsea boss Tuchel will only have the funds to sign either Haaland or Lukaku.

It comes after the German manager made a top-class striker a priority going into the summer transfer window.

The former Paris Saint-Germain manager has worked wonders since he took over from Frank Lampard back in January.

He has led them to the Champions League and FA Cup final and is on the verge of landing a top four spot in the Premier League.

But there are still problems – not least up front where the Blues miss an abundance of chances.

Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud are expected to leave in the summer while Timo Werner and Kai Havertz are yet to click up top.

It has led to a decision that a striker will be made a main priority to finish the many chances that are created at Stamford Bridge.

Borussia Dortmund star Haaland and Inter Milan forward Lukaku are the top two choices – but Abramovich’s wallet will only stretch so far this year.

According to The Sun, the Blues owner will grant Tuchel £150m going into the transfer window.

But that will only be enough to prise one of Haaland or Lukaku away from their respective clubs, with the duo costing around that much in fees.

Both players have had fantastic seasons in the Bundesliga and Serie A, comfortably the top scorers for either side.

Haaland has 37 goals in all competitions while Lukaku, who played 10 league games for the Blues in a previous stint, has 28.

As well as a striker, a centre-back has been eyed while an experienced midfielder has also been linked in the form of Miralem Pjanic or Marco Verratti.

But they are not the main objective while funds might also have to be generated through player sales.

A number of fringe stars have been linked with moves away, including Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori and Marcos Alonso.
